25 years of weekly instalment on manga magazine; an anime series with 1,000 episodes and counting – the craze for ONE PIECE and its passionate dramas lives on in all corners of the world. This worldwide phenomenon is getting fresh impetus as ‘The Great Era of Piracy’ Exhibition Asia Tour is set to open in Hong Kong on 24 November 2022. Conceived by the Hong Kong-based Incubase Studio, the exhibition will travel around Asia after its inaugural leg in Hong Kong, meaning local fans are the first to experience the awe-inspiring adventure of pirates! The Hong Kong exhibition is produced by local creatives under the licence of Toei Animation for fans to revisit the electrifying moments of ONE PIECE.

As opposed to the 2D format of manga and anime, 【FWD Presents】One Piece ‘The Great Era of Piracy’ Exhibition Asia Tour will take visitors on a highly interactive and experiential journey into 16 immersive spaces, each one of them recreating an emotional moment of the epic in the high seas, enlivened by sight, sound and lighting. Visitors are also invited to take part in eight games in mobile AR and real-life setting to earn points for fabulous prizes. In addition, fans will love the pop-up store replete with exclusive ONE PIECE goodies.

‘Before 2019, there were events themed on ONE PIECE aplenty in Mainland China and Hong Kong; the hype only spiralled down with the COVID-19 outbreaks. I am particularly thrilled to see public happenings finally resume,’ commented Toei producer Hiroaki Shibata on the exhibition. ‘As the climactic finale for both the original ONE PIECE manga series and its anime adaptation draws near, I hope the exhibition can as well refresh the ONE PIECE experience for fans and prepare them for the epic conclusion.’

16 Thematic Zones Featuring Global Debut of 12 Giant Figures in Thrilling Battles
The first and Hong Kong leg of the Asia Tour will revisit the adventure of the Straw Hats in ONE PIECE from start to the latest episode. Through an exhibition path that connects 16 thematic zones, visitors are treated to a truly immersive ONE PIECE experience, where classic and electrifying scenes of the series come to life with audio-visual astonishment, including the Story of Skypiea, Farewell to Going Merry, the Impel Down where Ace was locked, the Summit War of Marine Ford, the combat with the Big Mom crew on the Whole Cake Island, and the Wano Country Arc featuring the Beasts Pirates.

For the first time, 12 giant figures will be unveiled in breath-taking dioramas of battles. Hong Kong fans will be the first to admire all the details in person, with selfie opportunities destined to become the envy of worldwide fans.

AR+ Games in 8 Checkpoints for Fans to Earn Points for Prizes
A dedicated mobile app, developed by Incubase Studio for the event, offers on-the-spot access to AR games with prizes. Visitors with the app downloaded on their phones can participate in the games by scanning the QR Codes in corresponding zones. There are four mobile AR games and four real-life games. Participants are entitled to earn points in these interactive adventures; for example the ‘Straw Hats – an Action-Packed Retro!’ in Zone 5 invites participants to earn points by mimicking the famous moves of the Straw Hats. The better their performance, the more points they can earn. Meanwhile, the concentration and agility of contenders are put to the test in the mobile AR games in Zone 10 the ‘Battle for Fish-Man Island’, Zone 11 the ‘The Corrida Colosseum Tournament, Zone 13 the ‘Mirro-World Challenge’, and Zone 14 the ‘Journey into Wano Country’; while the real-life games in Zone 15 ‘Carnival in the Flower Capital’ challenge participants’ skills and physical strength. Those who have earned a designated amount of accumulative points can redeem a limited edition prize.
